Halloween 2012

Hayden as Kid Icarus (it's a video game)

Emerson as Mario (this was an unusual choice of costume since he has been Jason, the Scream Ghostface guy, and a demon in the past, lol)

Emerson goofing off with his best friend, Murray

Clayton helping Hayden with his costume

Halloween night was a blast.  We went over to our neighbor's house and had a nice dinner party before heading out in the 'hood to trick-or-treat.  All of the kids from the party rode on the back of a trailer throughout the neighborhood.  It made trick-or-treating super easy on us parents.  Clayton and I rode on the back the whole time to keep an eye on all the kidlets.  Since I was almost 5 months pregnant, I didn't have to worry about wearing myself out.  It was a fun night.  I have many more pics but I don't feel right posting them considering that there were a lot of kids in them that I do not know very well.  Their parents may not approve of me plastering their faces on the Internet.

{So yea, I am a terrible blogger lately.  I just haven't cared to update it.  Sorry about that but until this baby is out of me, I won't be spending very much time on here.}

Halloween 2011

Hayden as Link from the game Zelda (his wig is really out of place, lol) and Emerson as Jason.
We went trick-or-treating in our soon-to-be neighborhood.  Clayton fashioned their costumes for them.

My little Link

Emerson was thrilled to have a bloody weapon to carry, lol.  Yes, we know it is demonic.  This kid is a quiet, laid-back kind of guy so he isn't like the hellion that he portrays.  He always picks something scary to be and we find it hilarious considering his personality.  And no, he doesn't even know who Jason is nor does he know the Scream guy that he dressed up as last year.

Halloween 2010

Me (please excuse the drugged up expression, lol)

Halloween night is one of our favorite holidays. I decided to host a large party before the kiddos went trick-or-treating but it didn't go as smoothly as I anticipated. I had no idea when I set the party in stone that I would be having surgery just 2 days before. When I found out my surgery date, I figured it would be okay because my last one went so easily. It was back at Easter and I ended up grocery shopping right after I woke up from the anesthesia. It was crazy. I didn't even need to take much pain medicine. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. I hurt. The morning of the party is a total haze to me. I don't even remember making the food at all. My guess is that the pain meds made me stupid and so I can't remember jack. That night was kind of weird too because I wasn't up to speed. I didn't really enjoy the party but at least the kids did (which is what really matters).

Halloween Night

I took several photos but this was the only halfway decent one and Hayden isn't even looking at me, lol. Emerson was Anakin Skywalker and H was a blue Power Ranger. Now mind you, Hayden doesn't even watch that show and we do not have any Power Ranger crap in our house. I have no idea why he chose that costume. Can you tell that I hate that show? I just could not talk him into anything else. Sigh....

The weather was wonderful that night. It was clear and comfortable outside. I sat on the front porch giving out candy all night with short sleeves on. I never even needed a jacket. Last year was a different story as I froze my patootie off.

Emerson's Pre-K Halloween Party

E is in the front row, hidden behind the fairy wings. I wish now that I would have moved him but oh well.

Aren't they adorable?

This pic is a little bit weird because my camera was about to die on me. There's a strange shadow line around E and his teacher.

All the kiddos really seemed to enjoy eating their Halloween treats.

Wanna see what $40 can get you?

Geez, I can't believe that this tub of candy was so stinkin' expensive! I had to have a little bit of everything though, lol. Thank the Lord I had a $65 gift card from Walgreens to use on it. It's too bad that Halloween is 2 days away because hubby and I can't keep our hands out of it. We are huge candy fanatics so I may have to run out and get more before the trick-or-treaters begin making their rounds on Friday night. We have a humongous neighborhood with tons of kiddos so I know we need to have a lot on hand. Last year I never even got to go inside so I ended up sitting on the porch with all the loot beside me. I froze my butt off. I hope this year won't be so chilly.

We got boo'ed by some neighbors tonight. Last year I was the one who started it on my street so I am glad that someone else took the initiative to start it this year. Now I am going to have to head out to Target tomorrow to gather up the supplies to boo 2 households that haven't already been boo'ed. How fun!

It's that time of year again...

Every Halloween we make a trip to the local pumpkin patch to pick out what will be Clayton's future Halloween creations. He likes to pick certain pumpkins based on their size, shape and appearance. Yea, he can be picky but he does fabulous work. We picked up 5 big pumpkins this year and I can't wait to see what he does with them.

Hayden walked us into a maze that he claimed he could "lead" the way through for us. Yea, right. He walked us through some of it in a haphazard way and then took us right back out the entrance rather than the exit, lol. Goofy kid.

He sure seems to be studying that one, huh? lol

Our Ninja Turtles

Emerson in ninja action
Hayden tried to avoid the camera but we threatened that he couldn't go trick-or-treating without letting me take a few shots, lol.
Hayden's loot
Emerson was thrilled to make it back home as he was super tired and cold when he returned. He was one happy boy when he finally got to sort all his loot.
This year Clayton decided to make the boys' costumes. He even made their shells (even though you can't see them in the pics). He is so clever. Hayden was Raphael and Emerson was Michaelangelo. They did turn out better than the costume at Target but he did go through a lot of work to make them. I would rather spend the $20 each than to take all the time he had to create them, lol.

Our newest addition...

Meet Wolfie. Clayton created him yesterday. Isn't he cool? Unfortunately, no one around here will know who the heck the NC State Wolf is but at least we still have Pack pride, lol.

Clayton's Creations

Every year Clayton carves some awesome pumpkins for Halloween. I really wish that I had a picture of last year's because he did a Spiderman face, the Dharma logo from the TV show "Lost", and a Bon Jovi smirk (the weird smiley face that was on the "Have a Nice Day" CD cover). They were all so cool! He chose to do an intricate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one this year that I thought that he was crazy for trying to carve. It took him a long time to do but he was happy with the outcome and the boys love it. It kinda makes me think of a "Charlie's Angels" pose, lol. The second pumpkin is a Transformer's Autobot logo. The kids both love both the Transformers and the Turtles so that was why Clayton chose to carve these. We still have a couple more pumpkins for him to carve over the next couple of days and I will be sure to post the results. :)

Arghhhhhh, me a scurvy pirate!

My friend Joanna (back in NC) always had the cutest pumpkins made with these potato-head like kits out on her porch so I just had to buy one this year. Isn't he cute?

Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

Me at 29 weeks with the surrobabe
We finally made our way to the local pumpkin patch yesterday. Clayton has lots of ideas for carving so he made sure to get several. He plans on carving the Transformers logo and a TMNT scene. He is also considering doing a Fat Tire logo (that's a local beer for those of you on the East coast and have never heard of it) and an NC State Wolf. Last year he did a Spiderman face and an awesome Bon Jovi CD cover. I wish I had pics of those. This year I will make sure to take some!

BOO!

A week ago I made these baggies for 2 of my neighbors. They were full of candies and Halloween treats. Hayden got to drop the bags on their porches, ring their doorbells and then run like heck so that he wouldn't be caught. He did a fabulous job! We got Boo'ed last week too.
