Hayden is now officially a school aged kid. How weird is that?? I can't believe that it has been 5 years since he made me a Mommy. Wow, has it really been that long? We aren't really doing much today other than a few little things. I made him cinnamon rolls for breakfast and we will be making a pit stop at McDonald's (or Mick A Donald's as he calls it, lol) for happy meals at lunch. I have 2 dozen cupcakes and some Transformer plates to take to his class. He is really looking forward to that. For dinner, we are letting him choose where to eat and so far he wants Cracker Barrel. I really wish that he would say The Melting Pot or Bonefish Grill but at least it isn't Chuck E. Cheese's, lol.
As for presents, we have been distraught trying to find a Nintendo DS Lite for him. They are not available anywhere around here or online. Egad. I thought that they would for sure be available by now. Christmas was over a month ago for Heaven's sakes. I can't believe that no one has them in stock yet. Anyhow, we ended up getting him some arcade games for the tv and a few other small items.
We celebrated with Aunt Steph and Uncle Tom this past Saturday. Hayden and Emerson made their own pizzas (we stole this idea from Rock Bottom Brewery because H loved it so much there) and we had a nice homemade meal with chicken casserole, egg noodles and green beans. We ended the meal with a chocolate birthday cake and ice cream sundaes. It wasn't a big party but Hayden was content and that was what really mattered. Hopefully he will have a lot of friends to invite next year once he is in regular school.
I hope that Hayden had an enjoyable birthday. I enjoy reading your blog Brandy, it makes me smile :-)
